Somali Description
The Somali looks like a longhaired variety of the Abyssinian, and is a striking cat, resembling a little fox. Somalis have a slender, muscular body, a wedge-shaped head, and large green or copper, almond-shaped eyes. The double-layered coat is soft and fine, with a ruff around the neck, and longer fur on the legs called the breeches. Ruddy (reddish-brown) is the most common and desirable color. Other colors accepted in the breed include red, blue and fawn.

The Somali breed is closely related in its development to the Abyssinian, a breed which originated in present day Ethiopia, which borders Somalia.

The cat is to give the appearance of activity, sound health, and general vigor.
